- Dave Brock - Busking in London
1967 - Portobello Road? A fleeting glimpse of a youngish (well, 26) Dave Brock in his pre-Hawkwind busking days. This is from a 'swinging sixties' documentary and you can download the clip from the Hawkfanfare site. |

- Chalk Farm Roundhouse
12 April 1970 - Chalk Farm This snippet from a Genesis fan site: "There appear to be quite a few independent reports of footage of various bands filmed at the London Roundhouse around 1970, including 35mm film of Hawkwind from April 1970 for which the soundtrack is said to be missing." Don't hold your breath, but it might turn up one day. |

27-31 August 1970 - Isle of Wight Hawkwind's famous free concerts for 'canvas city' outside the main festival were not thought to have been recorded, but rumours persist of at least a few seconds of footage being in existence. |

1971
- 2nd Glastonbury Festival
20-24 June 1971- Glastonbury From glastonburyfestivals.co.uk: "The Festival moved to the time of the Summer Solstice and was known as the Glastonbury Fayre. The Festival is also captured a la Woodstock by a film crew that included Nick Roeg and David Puttnam. This film was called Glastonbury Fayre. Acts included: Hawkwind, Traffic, Melanie, David Bowie, Joan Baez and Fairport Convention. Attendance: estimated at 12,000. Price: free." The film produced didn't include any of the Hawkwind set and I'm not aware of any out-takes circulating but there might be some sitting in a dusty archive somewhere... |

- Masters of the Universe Tour Film
Nov/Dec 1979 - Lighthouse is included on the Hawkwind Video Collection 1979-89, a now unavailable VHS tape. No info at the moment on exactly when or where this was filmed, but the track was a regular in the November/December UK tour. This clip is included on the Startling Stories: Do Not Panic Volume 3 - it's very dark with just a few flashes of the light show to set it apart from an audience audio recording. |

- Choose Your Masques Tour Film
1982? - n/k Choose Your Masques - Solitary Mind Games - Waiting for Tomorrow Yet more tracks apparently included on the Hawkwind Video Collection 1979-89. Also around this time Kevin Smith started, with the bands approval, making single camera videos of many of the concerts. I'm not sure whether it's Kevin's films that are the source material for the 'official' VHS videos released in the early 90's by Hawkwind Merchandising. 1982 filmed gigs specifically mentioned on Kevin's website include Oxford (14 November). Choose Your Masques tour, Glasgow (19 October) was one of the titles offered by Hawkwind Merchandising on VHS. A video entitled Live at Edinburgh Playhouse 1982 (21 October) was released in 1983. |

- Making of 'Destruction of the Death Generator'
December 2002 - Wiltshire There's a bizarre story about the Ministry of Defence producing a film about the making of Destruction Of The Death Generator. This was going to be Hawkwind's "next epic project.. written in conjunction with Michael Moorcock". (in fact it eventually became Take Me To Your Leader, with no Moorcock involvement). Read all about it for yourself over at Starfarer.net. Perhaps not surprisingly, this film has yet to appear. |

4 May 2005 - Bergen From a recent interview with Dave Brock for MetalZone (A Greek Heavy Metal mag): Metalzone: You have also filmed a DVD, in Burgen, with 7 cameras. When is it going to be released? Hawkwind: We havent seen it yet. We actually have to see it first. So we arent thinking about releasing it because we dont know if its any good yet. We dont know what the soundtracks are like; we dont know what the pictures look like. They havent sent us a copy so we are still waiting. Also confirmed at hawkwind.com: A DVD was filmed at the Bergen gig - a seven camera shoot with 28 channel audio Lowcut Magazine provides a review of the gig. |
